BODY MOVEMENT IS BASED ON CONTROLLING THE BODY AXIS IN THIS POSTURE. IN WHICH POSTURE OF GENSEIRYU KARATE-DO CAN YOU CONTROL THE DISTANCE?
Throw your body down to the ground to either side of the enemy, and then apply Mawashi-geri, with your head close to the ground. The aiming point should be either upper or middel part of the body (pictures 12, 13, 14 and 15). Because you suddenly dropped from the enemy’s view you took the advantage by surprise. Shajo-geri will then become a counterattack with a hard impact because of its acceleration using the undulation caused by the three dimensions as described in one of the five principles – HEN – using self-rolling movements of the body.
Using Ebi-geri as a counterattack is the exact purpose of this technique. At the same time as turning the body, touch the ground with both hands, and then applyEbi-geri explosively using full power of the body towards the enemy (pictures 16, 17 and 18).
The principles of this kick is the same as that of Shajo-geri. The point is that your kicking leg should not touch the ground when pulling back, as this would be two movements instead of just one, which in the end would not be a counterattack. You should apply Ebi-geri smoothly passing the side of your knee, during the time of the turn. This is the usage of the HEN method.
